Relationshipzzz

Quite some time ago, while watching tv, a couple from the taiwan show biz was being interviewed bout their long lasting relationship. And they shared their "secret". Decided to post bout it now before I forget bout them as I think it's a very helpful reminder.
If I remember clearly it has 4 NOs.

1. 不要有隔夜仇- No overnight quarrel. Whatever they are quarreling, they will have to settle it before the clock strikes 12 midnight. So after that, they won't be still harping on the topic or start cold wars.

2. 不要提祖宗十八代- No mentioning of other people eg. family or friends into the quarrel. Eg. Not to say things like, why are you acting just like your father, mother, friends, etc.... Not a nice thing to say bout this bout your partner's friends and disrespectful to your in-laws, which without them, you won't be with your wonderful partner.

3. 不把家丑外扬- No telling other people of the quarrel or family issues. Well, in case the issue has already been settled and one fine day someone came by and ask you bout that issue again cuz he heard so and so say something, then maybe another quarrel will emerge out of it.

4. 不提成年往事- No talking bout the unhappy past. Why remember unhappy incidents? Why remember what he/she did in her previous relationship? MOVE ON!

I can't really remember the exact words they use, but the meaning they want to bring across is here. For a person like me who has a super-duper-power memory storage system in my brain, I guess I'll have to work hard on point 4.

Auction Day...

Today my company held an auction to sell 12 plots of land. Well, early in the morning, we had to rush out to print the auction order. They decided to change the order of which the lots are to be auctioned off last min; so we had to re-print. Our printer gave us problem, so I was not able to print duplex at 1 go... So we printed 1 page at a time, and making sure the print out is not slanted... By the time we finish printing, its already 1 plus. Then we had to rush to the sales office where the auction will be held.

I had to rush to finish my lunch as interested bidders are arriving. Well, my job is to pass out our door gifts to bidders who have registered. The registration room is jammed packed... The bidders, their agents (if any), spouse or kids, staffs... Hardly have place for me to walk up to the bidders to pass them their gifts before they went out of the registration room. Finally registration start to slow down by 3.... When they are getting ready for the auction.

We have 2 auctioneers. A lady and a gentleman. Well, the gentleman is a professional, whereas the lady, could really do much much much better. A part-timer commented that he's like the commentator for a horse race. This is the first time I see how an auction works in real-life. The auctioneer will start off with an amount and see if there are any takers for that amount. Then they'll start bidding and they try their best to get people to bid higher.

All 12 plots are sold around the range of 4-8 million. Imagine standing on 1 sqf to sleep, will cost $1k over... and a few buyers are buy 2 plots of lands.

After the auction is over, the buyers would need to sign legal documents and I had to help with stamping the documents and stapling. More than 80% of the whole event I was standing... So I was very very very tired after it. There was a cocktail reception, so we took the leftovers food. They tasted very nice, especially the cheese cake. It's soft and almost just melt in your mouth.

It was a tiring day, but I get to know and learn more things.... Going once, going twice.... GONE!

Bad Day........

We're having an auction event tomorrow and today... was so wrong.... Everything just gone wrong... A lot of last min cock ups... After lunch had to take a cab, rush to Sim Lim square to collect a DVD; then took a cab back, rushed to the sales office where the event will be held, then they complain the video clip not clear. But when I checked it at the shop, it was perfectly fine. Haizz...
Then had to rush back to my office to print 400 pieces of documents; but end up I had to print 1 page at a time, cuz the paper is smaller than A4 size. If placed too many pieces in, the document will come out crooked. The reason why we had to print in office cuz the information is confidential. Then my manager told my GM that we'll most likely be stayin overnight to print, then she relented to sent out to printer to print. Sigh~ Waste of time....

Anyway, after work, met up with my friend at Kallang. Waited for half hour before he appears cuz there's a jam. So I stood there for more than 30 mins waiting for him, though my legs are killing me, I'm still very happy to see him, cuz he's just back from his holiday. Oh, and he gave me a bracelet wor... So nice...

He drove us to the seafood restaurant again at Turf City. This time round we ordered a set. The menu consists of Drunken prawns, Mini Buddha Jump Over the Wall, Bamboo Clams, Fried Crabs with Salted Eggs, Ee Mee and Desserts. He ordered additional Scallops in XO Sauce... YUMMY! and another serving of the crabs to take home. Hmm... Hope I didn't miss out any of the dishes. The set is not very expensive... but today we had to sit in the open area, so a bit the hot. Anyone going, do call them for reservation wor.

I guess I'm in need of a serious workout and dieting... Hmm... Anyone knows of a great swimming pool where it won't be crowded with kids learing how to swim during the weekends? Sigh... if only there's a pool that's only open to people who already know how to swim.
I think aerobics and even dancing is good... But then... goin to aerobic classes after work, I think I'll just faint from exhaustion and dancing would be more fun if with a partner. Anyone interested?

Yup, thats me having dance lessons, and I even danced for my kindergarten's graduation ceremony. My parents gave me a chance to learn a lot of things when I was young. I had art&crafts, dance, swimming, organ, abacus & mental arithmatic. Busy little girl when young huh... Yeah, but they were all very enriching.

More than 2 weeks worth of updates

Been soo busy with work lately, and last weekend fell sick... Didn't manage to update the blog until now.... SO... Please slowly read through okie... :D

9th August 2006 (Wednesday)
Went with my cousin... to the NDP 2006. The first time she went to NDP was with my family at the Stadium, and the last time at the Stadium before it's torn down...
Watching the parade 'LIVE' as compared to on TV is a totally different kind of experience. It was very overwhelming for me... I almost cried... When we sang all the older national day songs like - Stand Up for Singapore; We are Singapore; etc.... In one united voice.... It's really hard to describe the feelings.

11th August 2006 (Friday)
A few days after the parade, I met up with my Holland friend, Ling-Ling. This time round, she just stayed for a few days here before heading back to Malaysia. Didn't manage to bring her around. We met at the Fireworks Festival held at the Esplanade. Her parents met up with mine, and we had a good chat.... It's been more than 10 years since our parents last met, while I last met her a year ago, also in August.

14th August 2006
Met up with my friend after work. He was sick over the weekend with flu & cough; saw the doc and took the antibiotics before meeting me for dinner so that he'll have the energy for the dinner. Happy and glad he took the trouble to meet me and staying alert.
We went to Turf City for some seafood. He chose a big crab weighing 1.7kg, bamboo clams; 'xiang ba pang' aka Geoduck Clam. The food was tasty... my first time trying the 2 clams.
Unfortunately our crab never came... Apparently, the kitchen mixed up the orders and our big crab went to another table... So sad.... We waited for quite long for the kitchen to clarify the order and get new crabs and cook and serve to us. By then we were quite full already. So I just tried 2 pieces, boy... the pincher is big.... They cooked it differently, it was not like the normal black pepper or chilli crab. I think it was fried with salted egg. Unique taste, though I don't take salted egg, I manage to swallow them this time.
Since they mixed up our orders, they 'compensate' us with a dessert. We chose mango pudding. But I think they should have done more.

Anyway, we decided to go for a movie after dinner, since it was still quite early. Manage to get to Jurong point in time and catch the movie 'Click'.
Just as we entered the cinema and settled down, the movie starts. Such perfect timing eh. The show is hilarious. Almost every other moment, you'll be laughing. But it's also very touching.... Many people are like Adam's character... Trying hard to work their way up the corporate ladder, and in the mean time neglected people closest to them. In his bid to become the partner of the company, he missed out many things in life... His kids growing up; his wife left him; his parents.... Maybe the story is just reflecting how our society is turnin to be. In the movie, it turned out to be a dream, so he can still rectify his actions, so it will not lead to the unfortunate ending.

18th - 20th August 2006
Fell sick.... Had the flu and sore throat on friday. Saturday my mom made me to go see a doc so that I can have a good rest on the weekend and no need to take MC for Monday. True enough,
I'm better on Monday...

Well, can't really afford to take MC now. Having an Auction event on Friday and we are moving office to start operations at the new office building on 1st Sept. And... There are still SO MUCH to be packed. My manager is pregnant, so she can't move; I'll have to pack her files and stuffs for her; more than 10 big cupboards of files is still waiting for me to pack them into the boxes....

Well, knowing my manager is pregnant, somehow has brought our working relationship closer. Strange in a way, but since I'm her assistant; during lunch, when she feel like taking something cold, then I'll remind her cannot eat, then sometimes I'll also tell her what food to take more and the nutrients they offer. Still remember a bit from my O-level's Food & Nutrition subject. LOL. And she'll tell me about her trips to the gynea, its soo interesting...

National Day!!

9th Aug 2006 will be Singapore's 41st Birthday!!... This year's parade will be held at National Stadium, before it'll be torn down to make way for new sports facilities.

My aunt managed to get me and my bro 4 tickets to the parade. Wanted to invite my overseas friend to the parade, but a pity she couldn't make it in time. So tried my best to find someone to go with and not waste the tix. Managed to get a cousin of mine to go with me. Yay!

Not sure how old we were when this photo was taken. Anyway, pretty cute hor. My brother was as tall as the height of the flag.

Gonna post more photos here tomorrow after the parade. Most likely it'll be full of fireworks photographs. Maybe included a few videos too...

Hopefully where I'll be seated would have a good view of everything.

Yummy...

Work was alright on Monday. I was asked to go to Queensway Shopping Centre to do do some colour photocopy for next day's meeting. So was told to go off at 5pm. Booked a cab to get there. Well... the prices for taxi is so high now. Before I started off my journey, there's already a surcharge of 6 bucks! $4 for current booking and $2 for peak period. Really don't understand why we need to pay for peak period. Peak period is the time when a lot of people would require cab. They shouldn't have trouble picking up passengers.

Anyway, reached there with a fee of $11 plus. Went up to 3rd level to do the photocopying.... Had a shock of my life. It'll cost me more than $300 bucks to do photocopying! Cuz most of the documents are in A3 size. The kind auntie told me its $2 a piece for A3. So I told her to give discount since I doing so many pieces. Another auntie came along, and gave me the price of $1.70. Then I tried asking for $1.50. She finally settle with $1.60/piece and don't charge me the 5% GST. Such a kind lady and managed to get me my photocopying done pretty soon.

Well, after I got my stuffs, my friend came and picked me up. We headed off to have dinner. He made reservation with a restaurant. We both thought that it'll be French cuisine at the place, but turned out they changed their theme to hawker fare in conjunction with national day.

Nevertheless, we went ahead with the food. It was a buffet. The last time I had buffet was with him on 20th July, to celebrate my birthday at a Brazillian restaurant near the old Big Splash.

Today was the first time I tried fresh raw oyster. He added tobascco sauce for me, so I took out my courage and tried it. It didn't taste bad at all... It was delicious! Maybe the tobascco sauce covered any unpleasant taste or maybe the chef specially picked a few for him of the better grade, that's why its better.

I had a popiah. A lady came before me, and the chef told her it'd not be ready so soon. So she left. Then the chef quickly passed me a popiah he had done and told me to go before she sees me. Cuz she ordered a few, he didn't have enough to give her. So gave me the 1 first. LOL... It was nice.

One thing I missed out where durians. They have durian fruit and will open for you upon request. But you had to sit outside in the open area to eat them. I love durians, but too bad... I was too full to have it at all. Oh well, there'll be next time. 'Cause we still wan to try the French Cuisine.
Heehee...

After eating, we jus walked along the river. Don't know what's the name of the river, anyway, the place is near Riverview Hotel. Its was a good walk to help digesting.

Then he sent me home. I'm still pretty stuffed as I'm writing this blog. LOL... But the experience today was worth it. I guess I can skip my breakfast, lunch and even tea break tomorrow.

Goodnitezzzz........

Friday Night...

Friday was a rough day. Suppliers having arguments with delivery, courier services problems. Argh... My colleague rushing with her project. I had to helped her to fax copies of documents to her prospects. I only managed to leave office at 630pm. Did 30 min of OT. And a sample product didn't managed to reach us. Although the supplier told me he sent out the package to the courier since 9am! Don't know who to believe.

Anyway, after work, met up with my brother. Went shopping for ingredients for our banana cake. Then we bought some polo tees at Giordano cuz on sale, and we can wear it to the National Day Parade on Wed. LOL...
Finally reached home, prepare ingredients, baked and wash up. First time that I didn't need to do cleaning cuz my bro did it all. Heheh.... Cuz I teach him how to bake it. Well, I haven't been baking for quite sometime, am still pretty satisfied with how the cake turned out.

After baking, testing how the cake turned out, I bathed and went to Jurong Point for a midnight show.

Caught one of the latest show - The Lake House starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.
Met up a friend, who had took the trouble to drink 4 cuppa coffee before meeting me, so as to stay awake during the show. As the previous time when we met for Pirates of the Carribean, he was mostly awake only during the action packed scenes. Glad he stayed up this time round to enjoy the show. =)

It was a great movie. Although the story's kinda unbelieveable, the whole show, story-line, the chemistry between the 2 leads are marvellous. It wasn't too complicated to understand.

Makes me wonder if such thing will really happen. What a way to start a relationship........

They finally met in the present year..........

Time to change the song....

Decided to change another song....
Title: Casablanca

I fell in love with you watching Casablanca
Back row of the drive in show in the flickering light
Popcorn and cokes beneath the stars became champagne and caviar
Making love on a long hot summers night

I thought you fell in love with me watching Casablanca
Holding hands 'neath the paddle fans Rick's Candle lit cafe
Hiding in shadows from the spies. Moroccan moonlight in your eyes
Making magic at the movies in my old chevrolet

Oh! A kiss is still a kiss in Casablanca
A kiss is not a kiss without your sigh
Please come back with me to Casablanca
I love you more and more each day as time goes by

I guess there're many broken hearts in Casablanca
You know I've never really been there. so, I don't know
I guess our love story will never be seen on the big wide silver screen
But it hurt just as bad when I had to watch you go

Oh! A kiss is still a kiss in Casablanca
But a kiss is not a kiss without your sigh
Please come back with me to Casablanca
I love you more and more each day as time goes by

Oh! A kiss is still a kiss in Casablanca
But a kiss is not a kiss without your sigh
Please come back to me to Casablanca
I love you more and more each day as time goes by
I love you more and more each day as time goes by

Decided to change to this song, as the first 2 para sounds very much like the situation I'm in. Oh... Well... Another photo of my bro and I..

Well, here you can see my bro's left handed and I'm right handed. While other babies suck on their thumbs, we suck on the 3rd finger. LOL... Runs in the siblings? Hee... Found it while lookin through my albums.
