If its christmas season now, I'd be singing, "On the 3rd day of christmas my true love gave to me 3 french hens, 2 turtle doves and a patridge in a pear tree". LOL...
Its way too early for christmas, although there are some people out there who may already be planning their holidays. Anyway, I'm talking bout my 3rd day at work.
Things are going well, learning more things... But some stuffs are getting a bit mudane now... Been doing alot of filing, which the previous girl, unfortunately didn't do her share. Lucky I've only left with 1/5 of what's left. Imagine... gotta take 3.5 days to clear her stuffs first...
Anyway, saw her for the first time today when she came back to return her passes and stuffs. Such a coincidence, our chinese name is the same. LOL... Hmmm, maybe I should ask some of the colleagues what's she like. One of my immediate sup told me she's messy, and didn't do the job properly. Anyway, hope I won't end up like that, if not they may condemn gals with the same chinese name. HAHAHA....
I got my staff pass today! The pass which they told us needed 1 week to make, came to me within 3 days. YAY!! I got the pass to start my enjoyment on the island at all the attractions. Hehehe, some of them, I'd get to go in free wor~! So very the efficient sia.
Now's to complain bout inefficient. I helped a fren's (aquaintance) company by facilitating a IT workshop. They needed an invoice?! before they can gimme the cheque. I'm not a company, how to expect to give them an invoice? Anyway, I emailed her one, and its been coming to a week. Sms-ed her yesterday, and she said the boss is out of town, need him to sign, and will contact me when she get the cheque. Guess what, prior to telling this, she already deleted my contact from her mobile. How in the world is she going to contact me?
Anyway, today in the mail, i saw her co's envelope. What's inside? An invoice to me! They want me to pay them instead!!! What the XXXX! I pay to teach!? Tomorrow, the company's gonna get it from me! ARGGGHHH!!
*Breathe in.... Breathe out...* Let me cool down first.
Okay, better now. My bro's done a pretty neat job with his blog. Guess I might want to try something different. Come up with my own template instead. Hehehe.... But currently, my creative juices is out of stock.... So no idea on what to do.... Any suggestions? Do tag and let me know okie....
That's all folks.... for now......
Very excited over the weekend to start work at Sentosa. Went on a shopping spree on Sunday, and bought clothes, pants, shoes for work. Hehehe... Well, items are sponsored by my dad! Kekeke...
Anyway, 1st day of work, went on well without any glitches. Woke up at 0550, bathed, wash hair, blew-dry my hair, make up, had breakfast bar, packed my stuffs, and finally left my house at 0715. First time in my life, I had to take 1hr 15 min to get ready. Usually I'll be done within 30 - 45 min. LOL
Waited a while for my feeder bus to the interchange, board the train, but no seats. When I reached HarbourFront, it was only 0800. Took the bus in and reached my office at 0815! My orientation will only start at 0900.
Anyway, I waited at the reception area till 0900, then the HR Mgr came and brought us to the meeting room. There we were given an envelope, with some information and guidelines. And also my name tag is given to me. I am so impressed with their efficiency! For today's orientation, there were 6 of us. Apparently, they have orientation every monday. Imagine the number of people they are recruiting, shows the company is growing!
We went through the company's culture and many other information (they even have company game!); led around the office area, all of the staffs that were introduced are all very friendly. The orientation then ended, and we went back to our respective department.
When I reported to my department, my immediate superiors were not around, so I was briefed by the department's admin exec. She told me many things, and had lunch together at Koufu, a new food-court located near the beach. Finally a cheap food court in Sentosa.
The day went by pretty easy, being showed what needs to be done, and how to do it, and stuffs. Hope tomorrow will get in touch with other different things.
21st June 2006 -
Yes, today's the day when I sign the agreement with the company. Woke up at 830, bathed, changed, make-up, and went out. Took a bus to the interchange, took a train to HarbourFront station, and took a bus to...... Sentosa Island!
Yes, I will be working under Sentosa, or rather, Sentosa Cove. The up and coming prestigious residential area within Sentosa island as Marketing Support Assistant.
So I went through the terms of employment, signed, and told to get my medical check asap. (Hopefully they don't find anything wrong with me) And was told to report on Monday for the orientation at 9a.m. I asked if there's any dress code for me, and she replied, smart casual would be good as you'll be coming in contact with the millionaires and billionaires.
It ain't cheap to own a place at Sentosa Cove.
Didn't know it would be that expensive.... Hmmm... Maybe from there I'll get to know some rich guy eh... Hehehehe...
Anyway, as today's my parents' day off, they decided to go down to Toa Payoh for Dim Sum. Well, since I got a new job, my mom suggested to my dad to give a treat in celebration and as a form of encouragement. Dim sum was nice as usual, but I guess the weather's kinda too hot, I didn't have much of an appetite. Did a bit of shopping, and took a long bus journey back home.
On the way home, my mom told me that since morning, my brother has been helping me to clean/clear up my room. I was pretty surprised, he didn't do it when I asked him to. LOL...
The surprise sure is pretty... Things have been rearranged, my brother went through all the heaps of stuffs inside my cupboards and help me to make the decision to throw them away. Of course things haven't been thrown away yet, in case I still have a need for it. Well, I DO want to keep everything... bits of memories here and there... But since my mom and bro have been telling me to clear up the clutter, and the first step has already been taken, so I kept a few things. Mainly the things from my years in Holland when I was young.
So I sorted out the few things I wanted to keep. Our home's part-time 'garang guni man', aka my bro, who has master the art of tying up paper the garang guni man style helped me to tie all the notes that I had kept since my sec school years to poly. Well, they weighed at least 5kg! Wow, I wonder how much we get can for selling that.
Did some final cleaning up, dusting, and putting things back in order, my room look so much nicer now. Well, here are some photos....
Looking more like a lady's room ya....
Finding a new job, removing junks and decorated a bit of my room.... THIS IS MY NEW BEGINNING!!!
Really really want to thank my folks for being ever so supportive all these years. And definitely my bro, to push me forward. Like they say, old/bad things don't go, new/good things won't come. My friends, who have been there for me, being supportive and listening ear or 'eye'. And please, if you see me going to slump back into my old self, help me to remind me.
Look out! The New Lynn Neo is here to STAY!~
For the past couple of weeks, I've been looking out for jobs. From looking into temporary positions to looking for permanent. Been to numerous interviews arranged mainly by the different recruitment agencies.... but no success.
A friend suggested to try applying at a company he's working part-time for. So I decided to go to their website, found an interesting position, and sent in my application. Received their call to go down for an interview on Tuesday, 20062006. Yes, 20th June, 2006. And I had 3 interesting interviews to go for on that day.
The first company was offering the position of Marketing Support Asst.
The second was offering Field Exe
The third was a receptionist cum admin asst for a caucasian boss.
Things went on smoothly for the first interview (with 4 interviewers!)... As usual, they'd say, "We'll keep you updated on your status" or "We'll contact you once you've been selected". So I didn't think much and went on to bugis, for my next interview.
While having lunch at Bugis Junction's food court, my mobile rang, and one of the interviewer called me and asked,
"Lynn, so how did you feel bout the interview just now?"
"Erm, sorry I can't hear you clearly." (wasn't prepared to answer yet)
"How did you feel bout the interview just now, will you be interested if we offer you a salary of S$1,400?"
"Oh... Of course!"
"Good, we'll be doing reference check, and if everything is in place, we'll contact you again either end of today or tomorrow to get you to come down to sign the agreement."
"Sure, so most likely you'll contact me today?"
"Most likely tomorrow, as we need to get all the paperwork done."
"Okay, thank you."
So I quickly called up my current boss that they will be contacting them, it turned out, they have already contacted them. LOL....
Didn't think much about it, and I went on for my Field Exe interview. It was a long interview, the longest so far, more than 45 min and caused me to be late for my last interview. They asked pretty interesting questions, giving me scenarios bout what my reaction would be if something happen, etc... It also went on smoothly, and they told me they'll contact me by end of the week if I'm selected for 2nd interview.
Quickly called up the agency to inform the 3rd company that I'll be late due to the held up. As I was rushing to the interview, the phone rang...
"Lynn, I've been trying to contact you."(I had 5 missed calls from different numbers during the 2nd interview)
"Congratulations, you've been selected for the position. So when will you be able to come down and sign the agreement?"
"Great, how bout tomorrow?" (I thought the earliest you could get back is tomorrow?)
Anyway, I was very happy to get the job, just didn't want to keep waiting and waiting anymore.
As for the 3rd interview, I went down anyway. When I reached, the boss was on urgent overseas call. I waited for him for 1 hour before I finally meet the boss.
His way of interview is very different. Instead of the usual, tell me about yourself, your strengths and weakness...
"Hmm, what do you do in your current company?"
"If I am a potential client, how would you present your company's services to me?"
And of course other different questions, so I thought maybe he just want to see how my communication skills is since I'm applyin for a receptionist job.
Found this somewhere, try it out guys... and let me know your score!
