Auction Day...

Today my company held an auction to sell 12 plots of land. Well, early in the morning, we had to rush out to print the auction order. They decided to change the order of which the lots are to be auctioned off last min; so we had to re-print. Our printer gave us problem, so I was not able to print duplex at 1 go... So we printed 1 page at a time, and making sure the print out is not slanted... By the time we finish printing, its already 1 plus. Then we had to rush to the sales office where the auction will be held.

I had to rush to finish my lunch as interested bidders are arriving. Well, my job is to pass out our door gifts to bidders who have registered. The registration room is jammed packed... The bidders, their agents (if any), spouse or kids, staffs... Hardly have place for me to walk up to the bidders to pass them their gifts before they went out of the registration room. Finally registration start to slow down by 3.... When they are getting ready for the auction.

We have 2 auctioneers. A lady and a gentleman. Well, the gentleman is a professional, whereas the lady, could really do much much much better. A part-timer commented that he's like the commentator for a horse race. This is the first time I see how an auction works in real-life. The auctioneer will start off with an amount and see if there are any takers for that amount. Then they'll start bidding and they try their best to get people to bid higher.

All 12 plots are sold around the range of 4-8 million. Imagine standing on 1 sqf to sleep, will cost $1k over... and a few buyers are buy 2 plots of lands.

After the auction is over, the buyers would need to sign legal documents and I had to help with stamping the documents and stapling. More than 80% of the whole event I was standing... So I was very very very tired after it. There was a cocktail reception, so we took the leftovers food. They tasted very nice, especially the cheese cake. It's soft and almost just melt in your mouth.

It was a tiring day, but I get to know and learn more things.... Going once, going twice.... GONE!
